5 tips you should know before you start packing
If you are flying for more than two weeks, it is a good idea to prepare a list of equipment for a long trip in advance, and take enough time to organize all the equipment. Even if you forgot or didn’t have time to buy something you wanted, don’t worry. There will also be good equipment at your destination that you can buy. There is excellent and cheap equipment in Thailand , Vietnam , Taiwan and even India. So if you remembered to take your passport and phone – everything else will be fine.
So what should you know before you start packing?
1. Prepare a list of equipment in advance
Make a list (I use notes on my phone), where you can check off everything you pack (it's also fun). Give yourself at least a few weeks before your flight so you have time to buy or order all the equipment you want. It's a good idea to use lists of recommended equipment, but also ask yourself which items you use every day, from morning to night, that you would like to have with you on the trip. It's a good idea to take the bare minimum, but it's also a good idea to take an item or two that reminds you of home in moments of homesickness.
2. Don't compromise on a good backpack
Sometimes the transitions take longer than expected and it takes time to find the hotel. You are tired and exhausted and just want to rest your head. At such moments, the backpack can be really broken. It is heavy and uncomfortable and then back pain starts. Therefore, it is really important to organize in advance a backpack with a good back system that suits your body type. There is a lot of hiking equipment that you can compromise on – a backpack is not one of them.
3. Take enough clothes for a week.
When making a list of equipment for a long trip, it's a good idea to take enough clothes for a week. That means around 7 shirts and 6 pairs of pants. On a long trip, do laundry about once a week. The same goes for underwear and socks. Besides, you'll probably see cool clothes that you'll want to buy, so it's a good idea to come with the minimum amount of clothes you can take.
4. Wear clothes that dry quickly and don't wrinkle.
It is very important to pack quality clothes that dry quickly and don't wrinkle easily - because your bag will shrink everything and you won't have room to iron. It is a good idea to take clothes, underwear, and socks that are Dry fit.
5. Fold and pack neatly and compactly
The most classic method is to roll your clothes and it really saves a lot of space. Use organizers to separate shirts, pants, and underwear, and then you'll be really organized and comfortable.
